After much careful discussion and deliberation, the committee has made the difficult decision to call and end to this season with immediate effect.
This decision has been reached for a number of reasons; firstly the lack of players’ regularly attending training has made it challenging, as no-one age group has had sufficient numbers to create a team. We appreciate that this is in part to our players having a number of outside interests (which we encourage), but has also been added too, through low retention from last season and minimal new interest, despite our best efforts.
Secondly a lack of communication and administrative support from the RFL has impacted significantly on the club, resulting in vital documents not being received; meaning that the potential to carry on this season has become impossible.
As always, the committee remain dedicated to promoting Rugby League and Flintshire Falcons in our community, and we hope that this season is just a blip in our history; but for this to be the case and for Falcons to continue next season, we need to build on our core foundations and to do this we require more players and more volunteers – both on and off the field. So if you are able, please help us either with your time or with ideas on how we can promote the club and start the next chapter for Flintshire Falcons.
In closing, we would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to our coaches – Mike, Mark and Chris for all of their time and effort this season; our sponsors – Chester Machine Tools, Dooners and Manor Lane Garage. Finally, we would like to thank you – the parents and players for your continued support. We hope to see you all again next season.
